Messalonskee begins season at No. 1. Also watch out for Bangor, Greely, Oceanside and Ellsworth.

MaxPreps 2015 Maine Baseball Fab 5 presented by the Army National Guard

1. Messalonskee (Oakland)
2014 finish:
13-6
Head coach: Ray Bernier

The Eagles reached the Class A semifinals before losing to Bangor. Messalonskee returns one of the state's top pitchers in Ben Frazee, who threw a no-hitter as a sophomore. Also back are all-state second team selections Jake Dexter at shortstop and Zachary Mathieu in the outfield.

2. Bangor
2014 finish:
18-2
Head coach: Jeff Fahey



Bangor won its first state championship since 2006 and the summer American Legion program also fared well with a state title. Two of the pitchers on those two teams, Trevor Delaite and Andrew Hillier, both return along with relief pitcher James Prescott.

3. Greely (Cumberland Center)
2014 finish:
17-3
Head coach: Derek Soule

Greely won the Class B state championship last season, the fifth in school history. Coach Derek Soule returns 13 players from last year's roster, including all-state second team outfielder William Bryant.

4. Oceanside (Rockland)
2014 finish:
12-5
Head coach: Don Shields



The Mariners return 10 players who had at least 10 at-bats last year, led by Nick Mazurek, the conference MVP who batted .460 with 25 RBIs and five home runs. He earned all-state first team honors at shortstop. Ryan Allender, a pitcher who went 4-2 as a junior last year, also returns.

5. Ellsworth
2014 finish:
6-11
Head coach: Michael Boles

The Eagles had a losing record last year and lost in the first round of the Class B playoffs, but look for them to turn things around in 2015. Ellsworth returns one of the state's top players in outfielder/pitcher Conor Maguire, who was the conference MVP and also earned first team all-state honors.
