Softball Recap: Doane Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Willingboro

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Doane Academy). Everything went their way against the Willingboro Chimeras on Wednesday as they made off with a 21-2 victory. Doane Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Ceren Firat was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie MacLaren, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Doane Academy pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Willingboro, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Doane Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Willingboro: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
