Basketball Recap: Josey Skates Past Burke County with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Josey over Burke County in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Josey Eagles blew the Burke County Bears out of the water with an 80-38 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 22 points or more this season.

Josey got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Keasia Henderson out in front who shot 5-for-6 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine assists. Henderson has been hot recently, having posted nine or more assists the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kerri Fluellen, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Henderson wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Josey was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burke County only racked up 13 assists.

Despite the defeat, Burke County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Londyn Williams went 9 for 16 on her way to 18 points and eight boards. Williams continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Josey, bringing their record for this year to 13-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.2 points. As for Burke County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Josey didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-49 loss against Thomson on the 17th. Burke County has also already played their next game, a 66-36 defeat against Butler on the 17th.
