Softball Recap: Wakulla Victorious

Wakulla's tournament run continued when they took on Gulf Shores on Saturday. The War Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Dolphins, sneaking past 3-1. That's two games straight that the War Eagles have won by exactly two runs.

Wakulla's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cylie Long, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

The win made it two in a row for Wakulla and bumps their season record up to 16-3-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Gulf Shores, their loss dropped their record down to 24-14-2.

Coming up, Wakulla will take on Spanish Fort in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the War Eagles 1.4, the Toros 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Gulf Shores, they will head out to face off against Fairhope at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dolphins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
