Maize South had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Goddard Lions on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Mavericks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Maize South easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-9.

Maize South found their leader in sophomore Payton Southard, who had five digs and three aces.

Maize South has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 34-4 record this season. As for Goddard, their loss dropped their record down to 14-21.

Maize South didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Hutchinson on the 25th. Goddard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
