Basketball Game Preview: Tooele Buffaloes vs. Cottonwood Colts

Tooele is 1-6 against Cottonwood since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Tooele Buffaloes will head out to face off against the Cottonwood Colts at 7:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Tooele didn't have quite enough to beat Jordan and fell 52-50.

Despite the defeat, Tooele saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kennedy Searle went 7 of 14 on her way to 23 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Camila Lora, who posted six points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Cottonwood over Murray in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Cottonwood blew Murray out of the water with a 59-28 final score. The Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.

Cottonwood has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Tooele, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6.

Tooele won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played on January 7th, slipping by Cottonwood 48-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tooele since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
