Soccer Game Preview: Mitchell vs. Immokalee

The Mitchell Mustangs will square off against the Immokalee Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mitchell comes in on three and Immokalee on four.

Mitchell is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Sickles a 2-0 shutout. David Gillespie had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Immokalee narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past East Lake 2-1. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Eagles are ranked 137th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mitchell is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 47 goals over those nine matches. As for Immokalee, their win bumped their record up to 16-4-1.

Mitchell came out on top in a nail-biter against Immokalee in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, sneaking past 1-0. Will Mitchell repeat their success, or does Immokalee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
