Basketball Recap: Arcadia Sets Scoring Season-High Against Northampton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arcadia). In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 79-78 win over the Northampton Yellowjackets. The victory was familiar territory for the Firebirds who have now won five contests in a row.

Arcadia's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Cropper, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 27 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrell Wise, who went 7 for 14 en route to 18 points and three steals.

Arcadia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amir Bailey, who went 9 of 12 on his way to 22 points and four steals. Jaylen Anderson was another key player, going 7 for 15 en route to 16 points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Arcadia pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Northampton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Arcadia will challenge Delmarva Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Northampton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, an 89-37 victory against Charles City on the 31st.
