Basketball Recap: Maclay's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Maclay won the last time they faced North Florida Christian, and Avery Coffin did his part to make sure it happened again. The Maclay Marauders came out on top in a nail-biter against the North Florida Christian Eagles on Tuesday, sneaking past 51-49 thanks in part to Coffin, who went 9 of 11 on his way to 25 points. Those 25 points gave him a new career-high.

North Florida Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jed Dickens, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Dickens is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. Jace Riggan was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

The victory snapped Maclay's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-13 record. As for North Florida Christian, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13.

Maclay wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-32 win against St. John Paul II on the 31st. North Florida Christian has also already played their next contest, an 84-68 defeat against Godby on the 30th.
