Baseball Recap: Archbishop Mcnicholas' Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Archbishop McNicholas came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Walnut Hills Eagles by a score of 6-2.

AJ Gundler was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gundler was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Gundler wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nate Colyer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Colyer has posted since back in April of 2024.

Archbishop McNicholas pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Walnut Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop McNicholas will welcome New Richmond at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Walnut Hills, they will be playing at home against Little Miami at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
