Baseball Recap: Spoto's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Spoto was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Middleton on Thursday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Spartans' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

William Barrios looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Spoto is 4-1 when Barrios allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Na'Im Salter was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Qwenlen Bennett, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Spoto moved to 11-13 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Middleton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Spoto will take on Leto at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Middleton, they will challenge Brandon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.63 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
