Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Northeast

Northeast won against Samuel Fels on Tuesday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Vikings put the hurt on Carver High School of Engineering & Science with a sharp 14-2 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won four games in a row.

Junelfy Montilla-Contreras made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Calvin Castro was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Eliezer Garcia-Guzman, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Northeast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carver High School of Engineering & Science only managed five.

Northeast now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Carver High School of Engineering & Science, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Northeast has already played their next matchup, a 14-4 victory against Masterman on the 27th. As for Carver High School of Engineering & Science, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Frankford on the 28th.
