Soccer Game Preview: Mesa vs. Gila Ridge

The Mesa Jackrabbits will venture away from home to face off against the Gila Ridge Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mesa will be strutting in after a victory while Gila Ridge will be coming in after a defeat.

On Monday, Mesa needed a bit of extra time to put away Casteel. They came out on top against the Colts by a score of 3-1. Given the Jackrabbits' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Colts are ranked 25th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ivan Soto and Santiago Villamarin scored all three of Mesa's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, Gila Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat Dobson back in December of 2024 and fell 4-3.

Mesa's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those six contests. As for Gila Ridge, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
