Softball Game Preview: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Pinellas Park Patriots

St. Petersburg is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Pinellas Park a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The St. Petersburg Green Devils will host the Pinellas Park Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Tuesday, St. Petersburg came up short against Boca Ciega and fell 18-15.

Joselyn Castagner was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Victoria Wirth, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Pinellas Park came up short against Osceola on Thursday, falling 16-1.

Pinellas Park saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danielle Overman, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

St. Petersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Pinellas Park, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

St. Petersburg took their win against Pinellas Park in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0. Will St. Petersburg repeat their success, or does Pinellas Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
