Baseball Recap: Suwannee Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, Suwannee rose to the challenge on Sunday. They came out on top against the Fernandina Beach Fighting Pirates by a score of 5-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Gabe Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jace Moran and Easton O'Quinn did most of the damage at the plate: Moran got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while O'Quinn got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Kyler Watson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Suwannee's victory bumped their record up to 19-12. As for Fernandina Beach, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 23-6.

Looking ahead, Suwannee will face off against South Walton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Seahawks have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. Fernandina Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
