Basketball Game Preview: Grosse Pointe North Norsemen vs. Western International Cowboys

The Grosse Pointe North Norsemen will take on the Western International Cowboys in a tournament on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Grosse Pointe North has 11 straight victories, Western International has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, Grosse Pointe North narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Utica Eisenhower 71-68. Given the Norsemen's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Eagles are ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Western International took a blow against Groves on Thursday, falling 82-48.

Grosse Pointe North's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points over those games. As for Western International, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.
