Basketball Recap: Avon Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Thomas Edwards and Nyisah Miranda

It was a proper cat-fight when Avon took on Westport on Friday. The Avon Panthers fell 66-54 to the Westport Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-39 back in January.

Nyisah Miranda and Thomas Edwards certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Miranda dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 assists, while Edwards went 8 for 17 en route to 18 points along with eight boards and three blocks. Edwards' evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Travis Guillaume, who posted six points.

Avon's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Westport, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.

Avon has already played their next contest, a 74-58 win against Hull on the 4th. As for Westport, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 85-60 defeat against Blue Hills RVT on the 3rd.
