Basketball Game Preview: Spencer Greenwave vs. Brookstone Cougars

The Spencer Greenwave will square off against the Brookstone Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Spencer saw some tournament action on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 79-43 loss at the hands of Woodland.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nadra Rosser, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamani Lewis, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, Brookstone took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They put the hurt on Kendrick with a sharp 54-30 win. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Cherokees recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Brookstone's win came from a few key players Spencer will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Julie Anne Pyle, who put up 16 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Meg McPherson, who earned 11 points.

Spencer strolled past Brookstone when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 55-38. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Cougars' Taylor Zwickey, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Greenwave still be able to contain Zwickey? There's only one way to find out.
