North Sevier is 0-9 against Duchesne since March of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Wolves will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Duchesne will be up against a hot North Sevier squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Wolves blew past North Summit 19-4 on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by exactly 15 runs.
Addie Quarnberg was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Jaylee Lewis also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Quarnberg wasn't the only one making solid contact: North Sevier kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The Wolves are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Duchesne won against San Juan two weeks ago with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Eagles' way against Carbon as they made off with a 13-4 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Dinos recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Kira Grant was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.
In other batting news, Chezney Farnsworth was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Claire Anderton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Duchesne pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for North Sevier, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Sevier hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Duchesne struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Sevier might still be hurting after the 18-2 loss they got from Duchesne in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
