Softball Recap: Seminole's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Seminole came into Monday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the St. Petersburg Green Devils on Monday by a score of 11-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Warhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Lilly Johnson looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Seminole got a massive performance out of Kaydin Whitenton, who scored four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave Whitenton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angelina Gomez, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Seminole always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Seminole's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for St. Petersburg, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seminole will face off against Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Petersburg, they will square off against Largo at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Petersburg's pitchers better be ready for this one: Largo has averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
