Baseball Recap: Durham Academy Takes a Loss

Durham Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 13-1 to the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cavaliers of the 11-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2019.

Durham Academy got a good showing from Michael Goodmon, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Goodmon has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Durham Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Capone, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

Durham Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Norfolk Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Coming up, Durham Academy is taking a road trip to face off against Jordan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Norfolk Academy, they will be playing at home against Peninsula Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on March 11th.
