Basketball Recap: Gage Beacom's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gilead Christian over Castine Christian

Gilead Christian was the 50-46 winner over Castine Christian when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Gilead Christian Eagles came up short against Castine Christian on Saturday, falling 55-35. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 574th, while Castine Christian are ranked 254th).

Gilead Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gage Beacom, who posted seven points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Beacom a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Bossard, who earned ten points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Gilead Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Castine Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Gilead Christian has already played their next game, a 46-44 victory against Coshocton Christian on the 13th. As for Castine Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-50 loss against Calvary Christian on the 23rd.
