Basketball Recap: Crow Creek Chieftains vs. Todd County Falcons
Crow Creek was the 75-58 winner over Todd County when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Crow Creek Chieftains took a 70-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Todd County Falcons on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (56), the Chieftains still had to take the loss.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Todd County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ciante Black Spotted Horse, who went 10 of 16 en route to 23 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Those 23 points gave Black Spotted Horse a new career-high. Chris Ellert was another key player, going 9 for 19 on his way to 23 points in addition to five boards and four steals.
Crow Creek dropped their record down to 5-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Todd County, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crow Creek will head out to take on Vermillion at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crow Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Vermillion likes a good challenge. As for Todd County, they will venture away from home to challenge Winner at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Todd County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season.
