With a playoff win on the line, Santa Fe Christian rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 17-9 win over the St. Augustine Saints. The victory was just business as usual for the Eagles, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.

Santa Fe Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Woolley, who picked up 93 receiving yards and one score. Those 93 receiving yards gave Woolley a new career-high.

Santa Fe Christian's defense stepped up as well, laying out Vince Smith four times. Everett Kerkhoff refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Santa Fe Christian got some further help from Kerkhoff: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made nine total tackles (3.5 for loss).

Despite the loss, St. Augustine still got an impressive performance from Paisios Polamalu, who rushed for 118 yards, and also caught one touchdown. Polamalu is becoming a predictor of the Saints' success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is 5-1 (and 0-6 when he doesn't).

Santa Fe Christian's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for St. Augustine, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Santa Fe Christian will face off against Scripps Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Augustine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
