Softball Game Preview: Baldwin County Tigers vs. Baker Hornets

Baldwin County hasn't had much luck against Baker recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will take on the Hornets at 4:00 p.m.

Baldwin County came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Daphne by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Trojans since March 7, 2024.

Meanwhile, Baker entered their tilt with Bryant on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hurricanes a 10-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Hornets have won by exactly ten runs.

The team relied heavily on NOLA HAVARD, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was KAYLEE BODDIE, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Baker's victory bumped their record up to 26-13-2. As for Baldwin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Baldwin County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Baker struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
