Softball Recap: Marion-Franklin Has No Trouble Against Africentric Early College

Marion-Franklin's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Africentric Early College Nubians with a sharp 21-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won five contests by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Rylee Taylor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in five of her nine plate appearances.

In other batting news, Azul Martinez was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her seven plate appearances. Carlee Woods was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.

Marion-Franklin's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Africentric Early College, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Marion-Franklin is set to square off against their familiar foe Briggs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Africentric Early College will face off against rival Eastmoor Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
