Softball Preview: Boyd Broncos vs. Braswell Bengals
The Boyd Broncos are on the road again on Friday to play the Braswell Bengals at 7:00 p.m. Boyd knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Braswell likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Boyd gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They beat Rock Hill by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2.
Erika Thurman made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Thurman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Beckham Manley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and a stolen base. Another player making a difference was Savanna Luther, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Braswell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They suffered a tough 10-0 defeat at the hands of Little Elm.
Boyd pushed their record up to 16-13-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Braswell, their loss dropped their record down to 10-20-1.
