Basketball Recap: Bath County Comes Up Short

Bath County was the 63-57 winner over Eastern Montgomery when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Bath County Chargers might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Eastern Montgomery Mustangs an easy 64-38 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Chargers have suffered against the Mustangs since February 17, 2020.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eastern Montgomery to victory, but perhaps none more so than Talan Bruce, who posted 11 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, Bruce is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Caldwell, who put up 14 points.

Bath County's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Eastern Montgomery, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

Bath County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-49 loss against Buffalo Gap on the 20th. As for Eastern Montgomery, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Parry McCluer at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
