Austin Achieve had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 48-40 victory over the Florence Buffaloes. For the Polar Bears, this counts as revenge for the 35-26 win the Buffaloes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Austin Achieve's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wilmer Romero led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Maurice Weatherspoon was another key player, going 6-for-12 on his way to 17 points.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Austin Achieve will face off against Giddings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Florence, they will challenge Bruceville-Eddy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
