Basketball Game Preview: Lancaster Golden Gales vs. Newark Wildcats

Lancaster is 1-9 against Newark since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lancaster Golden Gales will host the Newark Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Lancaster didn't have too much trouble with Canal Winchester as they won 66-48.

Meanwhile, Newark fought the good fight in their overtime match against Reynoldsburg on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 70-67. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Raiders are ranked fourth).

Lancaster's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-10. As for Newark, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-4.
