Recap: Monroe County Tigers vs. Hillcrest Jaguars
While it was all tied up 32-32 at halftime, the Monroe County Tigers were not quite the Hillcrest Jaguars's equal in the second half on Friday. Monroe County fell just short of Hillcrest by a score of 58-56. While losing is never fun, Monroe County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Hillcrest is ranked 62nd).
Hillcrest's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dorian Watson, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Al'Quan Richardson, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Monroe County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Hillcrest, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.
Monroe County will head out on the road to square off against Clarke County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clarke County will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Hillcrest, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Georgiana at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Georgiana comes in on ten and Hillcrest on nine.
