Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets vs. St. Xavier Bombers
Mt. Vernon lost against St. Xavier back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Yellowjackets took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bombers.
The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-14, 16-25, 25-18.
Zach Black paced Mt. Vernon's offense, picking up 11 kills. Black got some help from Isaiah Campbell and his 25 assists. Black was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.
Mt. Vernon has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for St. Xavier, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will welcome St. Charles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Xavier, they will be playing at home against Roger Bacon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
