Softball Recap: Franklin Falls to Sussex Central in First Game of Season

Franklin unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sussex Central Tigers on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Franklin saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raigen Maslowski, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Zariah Mitchell was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin will venture away from home to square off against Brunswick at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sussex Central, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Sussex Central Tigers take on Surry County Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
