Softball Recap: Fort Lauderdale Victorious

Fort Lauderdale came out on top against Flanagan on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run first inning. The Flying L's pitcher stepped up to hand the Falcons a 16-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Flying L's in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

Flanagan's batters probably weren't too happy with Kylie Keenan, who pitched a no hitter (she gave up two walks). Keenan has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jazette Dollar was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Miracle Yeargin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Fort Lauderdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flanagan only posted an OBP of .231.

Fort Lauderdale's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Flanagan, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Fort Lauderdale didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-1 loss against St. Thomas Aquinas on the 17th. As for Flanagan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 27-15 victory against Northeast on the 16th.
