Baseball Recap: Omaha Central's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

There's no place like home for Omaha Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Lincoln North Star Navigators on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Blake Demman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last seven matchups. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Omaha Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Ferguson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Luke Neujahr was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Omaha Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln North Star struck out ten times.

Omaha Central's record is now 8-11. As for Lincoln North Star, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Omaha Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Omaha Northwest on the 22nd. As for Lincoln North Star, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-1 defeat against Lincoln East on the 25th.
