Baseball Game Preview: Jourdanton Indians/Squaws vs. Cole Cougars

Jourdanton has gone a perfect 3-0 against Cole recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Jourdanton will venture away from home to take on Cole at 5:00 p.m. Jourdanton is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

On Tuesday, Jourdanton got the win against Poteet by a conclusive 12-2.

Troy Fulmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laz Salazar, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 14 games he's played. Caden Schulte also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Jourdanton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Cole fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Randolph on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Ro-Hawks by a score of 9-8. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Tristan Zedhikeia and Landon Snyder did some serious damage despite the final result: Zedhikeia scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Snyder got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

Cole's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Jourdanton, their record now sits at 10-4-1.

Jourdanton took their victory against Cole when the teams last played back in April of 2018 by a conclusive 16-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jourdanton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
