North Providence faced Ponaganset in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Chieftains. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.

Mike Ryan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Ryan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, JT Raftery was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base. That hit marked the first that he has got this season. Gabe Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
