Preview: Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves vs. Lower Brule Sioux
The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves will head out on the road to take on the Lower Brule Sioux at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cheyenne-Eagle Butte is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Last Monday, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte had to suffer through a rough 76-39 loss at the hands of Wakpala.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Suni Bowman, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and four blocks. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Jailynn Knife, who scored two points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Lower Brule's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight defeat. They fell 49-42 to Wessington Springs. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lower Brule in their matchups with Wessington Springs: they've now lost three in a row.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Lower Brule, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte took a serious blow against Lower Brule when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 72-36. Can Cheyenne-Eagle Butte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
