Baseball Game Preview: Bethlehem Catholic Hawks vs. East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers

The Bethlehem Catholic Hawks will head out to face off against the East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bethlehem Catholic will be strutting in after a victory while East Stroudsburg South will be coming in after a defeat.

On Saturday, Bethlehem Catholic made easy work of Wyoming Seminary College Prep and carried off a 14-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Ethan Kowalski looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caden Deegan, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Phil Taylor, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Bethlehem Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wyoming Seminary College Prep only posted an OBP of .367.

Meanwhile, East Stroudsburg South fell victim to Stroudsburg and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountaineers.

East Stroudsburg South's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Bethlehem Catholic, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Bethlehem Catholic took their victory against East Stroudsburg South in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bethlehem Catholic since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
