Basketball Recap: Wilcox-Hildreth Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

The matchup between Wilcox-Hildreth and Arapahoe on Thursday hardly resembled the 33-24 effort from their previous meeting. The Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons walked away with a 62-55 victory over the Arapahoe Warriors. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Falcons as it put an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Micah Johnson had a dynamite game for Wilcox-Hildreth, going 11 for 16 on his way to 28 points in addition to six assists and six steals. Those six assists gave Johnson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Schriner, who posted ten points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eli Shafer, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Gage Gooden, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Wilcox-Hildreth's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Arapahoe, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Wilcox-Hildreth didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-43 loss against Pleasanton on the 21st. As for Arapahoe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-33 defeat against Southwest on the 20th.
