Softball Recap: Dover-Eyota Beats Cotter for Their Fourth Straight Victory

The matchup between Dover-Eyota and Cotter on Thursday hardly resembled the 3-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Eagles blew past the Ramblers 13-7. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Kyllee Howlett and Jolie Draper did most of the damage at the plate: Howlett went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Draper went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Draper a new career-high. Nora Hansen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Dover-Eyota kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Dover-Eyota's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Cotter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Dover-Eyota didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-4 loss against Chatfield on the 21st. As for Cotter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 18-0 win against Plainview-Elgin-Millville on the 22nd.
