Baseball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello couldn't beat Albemarle on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Mustangs fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 8-7. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost five in a row.

Nathan Ogden was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gavin Halliday, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Albemarle, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-12.

Coming up, Monticello will look to defend their home field on Monday against Charlottesville at 6:00 p.m. As for Albemarle, they will head out to take on Fluvanna County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Flying Flucos will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
