Basketball Game Preview: Toronto Red Knights vs. Malvern Hornets

The Toronto Red Knights will face off against the Malvern Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Toronto came up short against Southern and fell 44-32. The Red Knights have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Toronto saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jayna Reeves went 6 for 10 to rack up 16 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Toronto smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Malvern was beaten by Tuscarawas Valley 55-13 on Saturday. The match marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Toronto's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Malvern, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Toronto strolled past Malvern when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 54-37. Will Toronto repeat their success, or does Malvern have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
