Baseball Recap: Newark Academy Takes a Loss

If Newark Academy was feeling good fresh off their 8-1 takedown of Belleville on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Minutemen fell 7-2 to the West Orange Mountaineers on Monday. The game marked the Minutemen's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Ryan Zhu made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Newark Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for West Orange, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newark Academy will head out to square off against Montclair Kimberley Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Orange, they will venture away from home to take on Verona at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
