Basketball Game Preview: Orestimba Warriors vs. Hilmar Yellowjackets

The Orestimba Warriors will challenge the Hilmar Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Orestimba is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Ripon on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Orestimba lost 62-42 to Ripon. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Hilmar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-50 heartbreaker at the hands of Sonora. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 969th, while the Wildcats are ranked 450th).

Orestimba will need focus on slowing down Aaron Solorio, one of several Hilmar players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 for 15 en route to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Solorio has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Peebles, who posted eight points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Hilmar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Orestimba's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Hilmar, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-17.
