Basketball Recap: Nelson Island Piles Up the Points Against Chaputnguak

There's no place like home for Nelson Island, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They blew past the Chaputnguak Shaman, posting a 107-71 victory. The Islanders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Shaman, too.

Despite the loss, Chaputnguak still got an impressive performance from Felagai Laumea, who posted 39 points. The contest was Laumea's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Placid John, who scored 15 points.

Nelson Island's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40.2 points. As for Chaputnguak, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Nelson Island will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Scammon Bay at 4:30 p.m. on January 29th. Scammon Bay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season. As for Chaputnguak, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 79-35 victory against Nightmute Elitnaurviat on the 18th.
