Baseball Game Preview: Huffman Vikings vs. Jackson-Olin Mustangs

Huffman has gone 7-2 against Jackson-Olin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Huffman will be playing in front of their home fans against Jackson-Olin at 11:00 a.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Huffman came up short against Paul W. Bryant on Saturday, falling 21-3.

Huffman saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Xavier White, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. White has become a key player for Huffman: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Jackson-Olin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 27-6 to Minor.

Tony Williams was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Jones, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Jackson-Olin's loss dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Huffman, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Huffman has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Jackson-Olin struggles in that department as they've averaged .484. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
