Baseball Recap: Coronado Takes a Loss

Coronado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Liberty Lancers, falling 23-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 12-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Coronado saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Turner Whitney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Whitney has posted since back in April of 2024.

Even though they lost, Coronado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Coronado's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Liberty, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Coronado will take on Discovery Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Liberty, they will challenge Palmer Ridge at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Palmer Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
