Baseball Game Preview: Greene County Wildcats vs. Forest Bearcats

The Greene County Wildcats will take on the Forest Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Greene County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Greene County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against West Jones on Monday. They lost 12-1 to the Mustangs.

Greene County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah McLeod, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 17-16 heartbreaker at the hands of Sebastopol. Even if the Bearcats couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Chandler Perkins was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring four runs while going 3-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Forest's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-18 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Pablo Morales, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Forest's loss dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Greene County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-11 record this season.
