Football Recap: Clinton's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Clinton extended their postseason success on Friday against West Bridgewater. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 18-6. The win was nothing new for the Gaels as they're now sitting on six straight.

Gavin Naughton had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 183 yards and two TDs while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Clinton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 308 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 308 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Clinton's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Connor Cox with two.

Clinton's record now sits at 8-2. As for West Bridgewater, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 8-2 record.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Clinton will square off against Amesbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Gaels 10, the Redhawks 10.2) so any points scored will be well earned. As for West Bridgewater, after both having extra time off, they and East Bridgewater will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 10:00 a.m. on the 27th. The Wildcats will be up against the Vikings' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.22 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
